and Basic Principle

Basic Principle

“The Earth” is the sphere of our activity! We will do our utmost to safeguard the global environment, while contributing to international society through our business activities and striving for a harmonious and prosperous society.

Basic Policies

As a Marubeni Group company, we will comply with the group’s environmental policies by formulating the following basic environmental protection policies for our domestic and international trades in steelmaking raw materials, metals, and minerals, and for our other related operations.

1. Promotion of Responsible Resource Management and Environmental Protection

We will ensure that our business activities always reflect our efforts and countermeasures related to impacts on local communities and nature, climate change, environmental preservation (e.g., protection of biodiversity and ecosystems), and environmental risks such as pollution.

(1) We comply with international environmental treaties, environmental laws, and regulations related to Japan and the countries concerned, in addition to other requirements, including those agreed upon with our customers.

(2) We assess environmental impacts that may emerge when implementing specific projects (e.g., resource development and new investment and financing) from the viewpoints of protecting local communities and the natural environment.

(3) We remain actively engaged in metal resource recycling and the promotion of pro-environmental products/business.

(4) We promote environmental consciousness and actions among related parties, including customers and partners, particularly guiding them to prohibit the use of or completely ban environmentally controlled substances to minimize impacts on ecosystems.

(5) We implement in-house initiatives for conserving energy and resources, and properly sorting and managing waste, as part of our climate change countermeasures.

(6) We strive to enhance employee awareness of environmental protection through educational activities.

2. Environmental Management System and Its Constant Improvement

We have established a series of approaches/procedures as a system in accordance with the policies stipulated in the above 1, and we will continually update the system as required.

3. Notification and Publication of the Environmental Policies

We will publicize the aforementioned environmental principles and policies to all internal and external stakeholders, including directors, employees, seconded staff, temporary staff, outsourcers, and other related parties. We will also make the content available on our website, in the attached document, or in another form considered appropriate.
